Thank you all

Thank you to  400+ riders who made the 2006 event a success. Our limit of 350 riders was broken by our biggest entry list ever !  I make a 'reserve' list of 20 - 30 riders.  I know that 10% of entrants will not sign-on.  This year I had a reserve list of 65 (!) and only 15 people failed to sign-on for the Run.  Fortunately there was enough food for everyone at the lunch stop.

The date for next year

The date for 2007 is 2 - 7 August at The Friars at Aylesford.  I think we shall have another record entry.

Invite your Friends

Now is the time to tell your friends about the West Kent Run.  Most of our riders are old friends who come every year, but we always welcome new faces. 

Overseas riders

• This is an International event.  We had 90 continental riders this year.  We want to exceed 100 for 2007. 
• We are keen to see more French clubs.  Sylvain and the APAPA Club have supported us for many years.  We would like to see riders from other French Clubs - local and one-make clubs.  If you have contacts please pass on an invitation or let me know and I'll invite them. 
• It's about time we saw some riders from Luxembourg - if you have contacts please let me know.
• We have seen no Belgian riders for a number of years.  Many English members have friends in Belgium so please pass the invitation to them and try to encourage the to join us again.  I went to the Oostende Rally to tell people about the West Kent Run and met some old friends.  I hope they will ride with us next year.
• Several friends from Holland missed this year's Run.  They will be back next year.
• We welcomed our biggest group of German riders this year - from the Hercules IG.  I hope they will bring more riders and I would like to see riders from other German Clubs too - if you have contacts, please invite them.
• Details in Danish have been added to the website and there is a link on the homepage.  We have welcomed many Danish riders over the years and hope to see some next year.
• In every case, a personal invitation is always best. Remember - the target is 100 overseas riders.

Utrecht Vehikel

I have seen the advert (in 'Bromfiets' magazine) for the Utrecht Oldtimer Markt on the weekend of 9 - 10 December.  I hope that I shall be able to visit and, perhaps, I shall meet some of you there.

Accommodation at The Friars

The camping field was very dry this year and there were large cracks in the ground - thank you all for not breaking your leg.  We hope the field will be improved again by next year.

En-suite facilities are proposed for the rooms at the Friars.  We do not know how many rooms will benefit or how much the cost of a room may rise as a result.  We do not know when the work will start or if it will be completed by next year.  I shall let you know as soon as I know.

Next Committee meeting

The West Kent Run is organised by a Committee of 10 who meet regularly through the year.  Lots of other people help as the event approaches. Our next Committee meeting is in the beginning of October.  If you have ideas or thoughts that you would like the Committee to consider, please let me know.  Many of you sent notes of thanks after the 2006 Run and we thank you for them.  Many included suggestions and they were all presented at our last meeting and will be considered as we move on to next year's event.  If you think you might like to join the Committee we should also be interested to hear from you....
