There is to be enhanced security again on the gate at Aylesford to ensure that the event remains safe for all participants and to prevent entry to unwelcome visitors.  Please realise that this may cause you some delay or inconvenience as all visitors must expect to be included in the checking process.  It is our aim, of course, that you should not be inconvenienced for longer than is absolutely necessary.  You may be given a 'pass' to identify you as one of our participants and it will ease things if you ensure you have it with you when you enter/exit the premises.

Eligibility: Entries are invited from members of the VMCC. Affiliated and other clubs are invited to join as temporary VMCC members. All should be riding two or three wheeled vehicles that are 25 years or older.

Important notes:

Entrants are required to ensure that every machine they use on the road or any other public place comply with the relevant UK vehicle & INSURANCE regulations

Children are welcome at the West Kent Run but must not be allowed to ride any machines at any time or in any place.  We also ask that you do not run or ride your machine unnecessarily around the site.

A Parental Consent Form will have to be completed for any riders or passengers under the age of 18.  These can be obtained at the signing-on table when you arrive.

We regret that dogs are not permitted anywhere on all The Friars locations including the camping field.

Entries and payment will be accepted online.  (For participants without access to the internet it is still possible to enter by post.  Forms are available from Keith Gibbins at the address below on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope.)

Entry limit: Entries will be limited to 350. In 2011 the entry list was filled by early April so enter as soon as possible.

Fees: All fees are shown on the online booking form.  An automatic acknowledgement of your entry will be sent by email upon receipt of your completed online booking form and confirmation of payment and the website entry list will be updated.

Paper entries who require confirmation can either ask a friend with internet access to check the entry list or enclose a SAE postcard with the entry form.

An extra charge is made for the food at the barbecue on Thursday for those wishing to join. The cost of lunch on the social runs on Friday and Monday is also not included.

Accommodation:  Camping is priced per person / per night.  See entry form.  Toilets and showers are available for campers.

Single-bed rooms and two-bed rooms are available and the cost is shown on the entry form. Each room has a wash basin.  Toilets and showers are available close by.  Bedding is provided in all rooms.  Smoking in the rooms is strictly prohibited. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room.

Friday evening free finger buffet: We are pleased to provide a free buffet on Friday evening. Please tick the appropriate box on the entry form.

Saturday evening buffet:  There will be a buffet meal on Saturday evening.  This will be prepared by the staff at the Friars and served in the marquee.  The meal costs per person is shown on the entry form and must be reserved in advance.  Tickets will be provided on sign-on.  Please do not forget to bring your tickets with you.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be available in the Pilgrim's Hall each morning at a cost of approximately £8.

Route: The West Kent Run is a 100 mile non-competitive social run.  A shorter 70 mile option is available for those who prefer it. Both distances are approximate !  Riders leave the start from 09.00 in small groups and ride at their own pace. The oldest machines start first.  The route will be marked with arrows along its full length.  All riders also have a route sheet.   There will be a coffee and a lunch stop en route and riders take tea upon their return.  The entry fee covers the cost of coffee, lunch and tea.

Dogs:  We regret that dogs are not permitted on any part of the premises at The Friars.

T-shirts:  As in previous years a souvenir T-shirt will be available for this year's event.  They will be on sale over the weekend.  It will not be possible to book them in advance.

Site security at The Friars:  Following concerns about security at such an open site, there will be a gate at the entrance of The Friars for the 2011 event.  It will be manned (or womanned) during the busiest periods of the event.  Participants may have identity passes to allow easy access to the site.  Full details will be made clear with the rider's final instructions that you will receive in the weeks before the event either by email of for paper entrants by post.
